Annie Irwin: Weaver, Textile Artist, Painter
Hey! I’m Annie, welcome to Art Prof. I absolutely love being a TA, it’s one of my favorite jobs that I’ve ever had, so I’m really excited to share this experience with you. Making art is kind of like looking at a really big mountain, that’s beautiful and sometimes seems far away, but by taking one step at a time, and really learning the basics along the way, you learn how to express yourself and your ideas confidently.
One of the most rewarding parts about being a TA for me is watching the students take that journey up the mountain. For example, I had a student once who loved computer animation, and kind of struggled with drawing, but when he took his interest in computer animation, and applied it to drawing, he was able to create something that was personally important to him. It gave him a voice that expressed his artwork and made unique.
I really think everybody has that inside of them, so that as they go up the mountain, learning the steps, getting it right, practicing, by the time they get to the top, they have everything they’ll ever need to be able to produce art. I can’t wait to see how you do on this journey, and I can’t wait help out. Good luck!
