“This series of vegetable prints evolved from my exploration of using different media as an underpainting for soft pastel. I found that water mixable oil paint grips onto soft pastel powder beautifully.
The veggie images were mostly lifted out with a baby wipe and my fingernail, though I did try other mark making tools in the final corn image.”

“I was inspired by Georgia O’Keefe, American female artist, who painted close ups of flowers in an abstract manner.
In my work, I also reflected the fruit up close as the center of my composition. A little background is shown to provide some context.
My focus was to study the impact of light on form, color and value. The work is done using mixed media combining water color, oil pastel and acrylic. I used 9×12 water color paper for all the pieces.”
