“I’m an Alabama high school senior applying this fall. Art colors my lens through everything I do; drawing is as natural as breathing. M

y school’s art program isn’t strong, so the initiative is on me to find time outside of school to produce more personal work.

Loads of direct observation and media experimentation went into this current portfolio. I also attended art camps to learn media exploration in a (virtual) studio setting with peers.

Lately, I make work that speaks to personal and political experiences about loss, such as Left to Burn.

I plan to major in art and another academic field, such as education, business, or engineering (I value lots of academic flexibility because I’m a bit undecided. Art is my constant though.)

I’m excited to get feedback here because I’ve binged Art Prof since freshman year. My favorite videos are Prof Lieu’s raw talks about academia; they’ve influenced my own aspirations about becoming a design educator.”
