Art Dare Prompt
- Pick 1 subject.
- Depict your subject 20 times, in as many styles as possible.
- Format is up to you; you could have 20 separate artworks, or combine them in a single image.
Art media
- Use any 2D or 3D art media, anything goes!
- The 20 artworks do not have to all be in the same art media, feel free to change it up.
Tips
- Your drawings don’t have to be very finished or time consuming to create. In fact, you might get more diverse results if you draw them more quickly and spontaneously!
- The objective here is to experiment with many different styles that you ordinarily wouldn’t do, step outside of your artistic routines and try different ways of drawing.
- There’s no “correct” definition of style, you can interpret “style” any way you want.
- What you’re aiming for in this experience is diversity, so you’re not drawing your subject the same way every time and going on automatic pilot.
- You might try really hard to do a different style, and yet a piece may not come out as different as you want it to.
- Sometimes your piece can come out very similar to a prior one even though you’re trying to diversify, and that’s okay too! The point is that you’re making an effort.

Submit
Post your artwork on Instagram, tag us @art.prof with #artprofdare. Please know that by doing this, you are automatically granting us permission to repost your art dare artworks on our Instagram account!
Submissions close on Friday, December 31 @ 11:59pm EST
We prefer submissions via Instagram, but you can also use the upload form. Please do not use the upload form if you submit via Instagram.
Prizes
We award prizes and honorable mentions.
To be eligible for a prize, your artwork must be an original artwork created specifically for this Art Dare, and follow all guidelines.
Art Dare winner
Choose from a portfolio critique, an artist website critique, or an artist Instagram critique, or 5 months free in our Discord Voice channel.
Artists in the US can also choose to receive both Prof Lieu’s book + Cat Huang’s middle school comic, “The Comic Journal of Cathy Rox.”
Honorable Mention
Artists in the US can choose either Prof Lieu’s book, or Cat Huang’s middle school comic, “The Comic Journal of Cathy Rox.”
International artists will receive 3 months free in our Discord Voice channel.
