Deepti Menon

I am an animator and actor living in NYC. Growing up, I always felt the most inspired when I was doing something creative — painting, sculpture, theater, etc! This led me to pursue the visual arts in higher education, and I graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Film/Animation/Video. At art school, I was very overwhelmed by how talented all my peers were. I started to learn what my strengths were and how to make my weaknesses work for me.

What I loved most about being in such a creative environment was the immense amount of support I received and how much I constantly learned about art and life from my peers and advisers. The best thing I got from art school was the community. I’m thrilled to be a part of Art Prof and this growing community of supportive, creative, and diverse artists!

Artist Statement

I have always been fascinated by the possibility of alien life. Often thinking about conspiracy theories and interplanetary warfare, I am drawn to themes of fear and anxiety, usually finding inspiration from my own set of fears.

My work is often colorful, character driven, and light hearted. I primarily work with 2D and stop motion animation. However, I also love to experiment with clay, create illustrated self-portraits, and explore new media.
