Courtenay Pogue
“I really enjoyed the wallpaper challenge as a chance to work with patterns. This work contains fluffy animals in warm jackets and some fish.
They are ink and wash, and the fish were watercolor with an emboss filter.
Honorable Mention
Salinas Aragon
“I lightly drew random strokes with the broad side of a large piece of vine charcoal. I went back to my 2D Design class for this one.
I picked a few verbs from Richard Serra’s verb list and ended up choosing to ‘distill’ to move forward with.
I painted on mulberry paper, tweaked the pattern in clip studio paint, printed, traced, repainted, then back into clip studio for the mockup.
Then I added detail with thinner pieces of vine charcoal, using my imagination to translate my strokes into something recognizable.”
