Prize Winner
“Saliha’s artwork is rooted in her experiences as a woman and her ongoing process of learning and unlearning. She finds joy in the act of creation, which is reflected in her colorful and emotive pieces.
Her work draws inspiration from human nature and emotions, using shapes, colors, and lines to convey the reality of these themes.
At the same time, her art also addresses the unjust division of space for women, revealing the ways in which society’s self-proclaimed rules often mask deep-seated misogyny. Overall, Saliha’s work is a powerful reflection of a call for change.”
Honorable Mention
“When I have an art block, I will collage which helps with my creative process as I sit listening to music and pick out items to cut and paste.
My favorite part of collage is putting animal heads on human bodies.”
