Workshop: Instagram for Artists

In this 2 week workshop, we’ll help you create a strategy for Instagram. Topics will include engagement with your audience, reels, how to get great photos and video, and make your Instagram true to your artistic practice.

How it Works

2 Weeks Before the Live session

• The workshop channel in our Discord opens.
• You will receive an email reminder, which will include instructions on how to join our Discord.
• Workshop guides and logistical information will be available.
• If you are new to our workshops, we recommend joining at this point so we can troubleshoot any tech and provide you support.

1 Week Before the Live session

Feedback Begins

• You will receive an email reminder, which will include detailed instructions on how to join our Discord.

Audio Critiques + Transcript

• Prof Lieu will review your Instagram, and provide audio critiques + a transcript.

Visual markups

• Some of the feedback includes markups on images so Prof Lieu can point out specific aspects to improve upon. (see below)

Discord Tech Support

• If Discord is new to you, don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of assistance!
• You are required to join our Discord to participate.
• Please join early so we can make the entire workshop experience run as smoothly as possible for you.
• Prof Lieu will hold your hand as much as you need through the tech, and answer your questions.

• Our main workshop guide has logistics and step by step instructions, but the most effective way to get set up is to join early so we have time to troubleshoot things.

Live Session Breakdown

Instagram reviews

• Each student speaks on voice with Prof Lieu to discuss their Instagram.
• If you don’t have an Instagram yet, don’t worry!
• Prof Lieu will review your artwork and explain how you can start.
• Students are encouraged to type comments to each other. (optional)

Workshop Recording

• A recording of the live session will be available, watch a sample.

Week After the Live Session

• Many participants will work on creating posts, shooting photos, editing videos, doing Instagram Stories, and more, during this time.
• Prof Lieu will provide audio critiques + transcripts and follow up on resources or other questions.

Email Summary

• You’ll receive an email from Prof Lieu, where she will summarize your progress in the workshop, and also provide suggestions for how to move forward.

• Limit 12 students.
• Enrollment is first come, first serve.
• You are required to join our Discord to participate.

Confirmation

• You’ll receive an email on whether the workshop is running.
• This email will arrive by the Wednesday after the Friday registration deadline.
• If the workshop does not run, you will receive a full refund no later than a week from the Friday registration deadline.

Refunds

• All payments are non-refundable if the workshop runs.
• You must join our Discord at least 24 hours before the live session starts. There are no refunds if you do not join within this time frame.
• There are no refunds if a student is late, or does not attend the live session for any reason.
• We only issue refunds if the workshop does not run due to lack of enrollment.
