Send Prof Lieu to film at LA Museums!

LA museums

I’m so happy I have managed to worm my way into museums to show you special things that aren’t accessible to the public.

Jordan is getting married!

I’ve got another chance to do that! The staff and I are going to Los Angeles, CA for Jordan’s wedding – but – I really want to stay longer so I can film more.

I spoked to the Head of Conservation about the 2 year Dutch Room restoration at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachusetts

I have filmed at the Conservation Lab at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and gotten private tours from a curator at MFA Boston and a manuscripts curator The Getty.

I chatted with a Conservator about restoring this sculpture of St. Martin in the Dutch Room at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachusetts

I want show you a museum print room

Here’s a place I haven’t filmed before: a lot of people aren’t aware that museums have a print room, where anyone can make an appointment to see specific prints that you request in advance.

I nearly fainted when I saw Albrecht Dürer’s Adam and Eve at the Met in graduate school, and gasped at Käthe Kollwitz prints at the Davis Museum when I brought my Wellesley College students.

I want to take you on a visit to the print room at The Huntington Library or The Getty. Image credit: The Getty

Seeing a print placed in right in front of you, without any glass is the most beautiful, intimate experience. While I don’t have a teleportation machine to take you there, I’ll do the best I can to share the experience in videos.

Rare books at The Huntington Library

When I went to the art museums at The Huntington with Jordan, but we didn’t make it to the Library, which has an incredible collection of rare books and manuscripts.

You bet I have been following curators on Instagram just in case…. hehehe.

Imagine Lauryn and I in a Museum

Lauryn is the only Teaching Artist who I haven’t been able to go to a museum with!!

We are dying to take you to LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) and have contrasting opinions about contemporary art.

Lauryn and I rarely agree haha! We are guaranteed to have some lively conversations at the museum.

Contemporary art I know often baffles people, so we want to talk about it in an accessible way while staying faithful to history and depth behind the work.
