Prize Winner
“I digitally created a set of ‘mushroom hands’ that correspond with each month’s birthstone color and birth month flowers. After, I turned them into a set of vinyl stickers.
I originally got the idea for the mushroom hands after looking at a vintage Fleetwood Mac poster that had hands reaching up from the bottom of the poster, coming out of the ground in a field of poppies.
I wanted to take the inspiration and play with the idea of the hands bursting out of the top of the cap like a continuation of the stem. From there, I’ve begun to experiment with different hand poses and holding different objects.”
Honorable Mention
“A photo by Paige Deasley was the inspiration for my illustration.
I was originally just going to do a photo study, but then decided to modify the artwork when I realized I can adapt the composition to the art dare.”
