November 2021 Winners

This video shows the results of the 2021 November Art Dare: Travel posters, where participants were challenged to create a travel poster that is based on either their hometown or where they currently live. The 2022 January Art Dare is also announced, providing inspiration and examples. Discussion led by Art Prof Clara Lieu and Teaching Artist Deepti Menon.

“Last April (2021) the house we were renting in LA was suddenly sold, we were given 45 days to move. After a frantic search for housing that we could afford there, we gave up and moved to Tucson.
We had family here and it was close enough that we could quickly get back to LA for work if needed. Our two kids had been isolated from friends and family all year, and in Tucson, they could at least be with their cousin.
I think we all expected Tucson to be hot, barren, and frankly, boring, but we’ve been pleasantly surprised by the abundance of plant and animal life everywhere we look. Due to the pandemic, we really haven’t met many people. The bike paths that encircle the city have been a life-line for our family. Additionally, the colors and textures of the desert really have inspired me to make more art.
I chose collage for this piece because I wanted to give the feeling of being immersed in the desert landscape, while expressing a sense of playfulness.”
