This workshop is a chance for you to explore the human form using a range of mark making techniques with an anatomical foundation.

“I felt like this workshop really allowed you to dive in and not be afraid of potentially making ‘bad art.’ I also think that being allowed to use whatever art supplies you got is a big positive.”

You went very far with the pastels during this workshop! I know the quality of the pastels wasn’t great and caused you some frustration, but it was great to see you really get into the layering as you build up the pigment on the page.

The way you got the darker colors around the cheek bone to “sink” into the face was really well done, the transitions between the darker and lighter colors was effective.

I was glad to see the drawing you did after the workshop, there is so much potential in the way you drew the hair. The textures were so lively and expressive in the hair. Perhaps something to tackle next is lighting on the portrait, lighting makes a huge difference in terms of showing the volume of the face so getting experience with that would enhance your portraits a lot.
