You’ll find resources and information art supplies for this workshop here.
Some people like to brush up on your skills and prep in advance of the live session. This is optional, you can show up to the live session without looking at these resources.

There is an *asterix near resources that I think are the most helpful.
For supplies, you can use anything you want! We provide options if you need them.

Media
- Media that is fast and quick to build up and easy to clean up is ideal.
- Drawing: soft pastels, oil pastels, oil sticks, crayon.
- Painting: watercolor, gouache, acrylic.
- You can use oil or water mixable oils, but note that these media are harder to use within a short period of time.

- We recommend not using pencils or pens because they are very slow.
- Experiment with combining media, here are some of our favorites.
- For digital media, we recommend choosing wide brushes that can change widths by changing the physical pressure with your pen.

Painting Surfaces
- Watercolor blocks: cold press is rough, hot press is smooth.
- Canvas boards, pre- stretched canvas, artist panels.

Drawing Surfaces
- A sketchbook is fine! We recommend no smaller than 8” x 10.”
- For soft pastels and oil pastels, use a toned surface (light grey, neutral blues and greens, etc.) instead of white.
- Pastel and charcoal paper have a lovely texture.

- Black mat board and paper allows colors to pop really well.
- Markers work well on Bristol board and mixed media drawing paper.
- Don’t use newsprint, it’s too flimsy.
