“Our family is always inventing silly songs or stories about our dogs. For Fantasy Vehicles, my brain immediately latched onto designing cars for our two dogs and our past dog, who have all had different love-hate relationships with car rides.

Leia gets car sick. Fenton wants to sit next to a human. Leroy always had to see out front and had the worst farts of all.
I brainstormed ideas incorporating the preferences of each dog.

I drew with a waterproof fineliner pen, shaded with India ink washes plus watercolour for soft colour. Leia’s glider has pencil crayon where I tried to make the glider look more like a burrito in aluminum foil.”

Honorable Mention

Ellen Goncharov (USA)

“So I was motivated to do this piece because I haven’t done a big project in a while and I wanted to challenge myself with doing an art medium I’m not as used to.

During Covid I’m constantly washing my hands constantly cleaning things so I thought I can express that thru this clay piece.

I was also watching the Cat and Jordan live stream draw along when they were demonstrating how to draw antique cars and I felt inspired to try it out and I ended up loving it which made me feel really excited once the Art Dare for August came out.
