5 Ways to Self-Critique

  • Write a checklist
    How is the… Tone? Contrast? Composition? Value? Line? Shape?
  • Put the artwork away
    Don’t look at it for a few days
  • Reference artist(s)
    Identify artists whose technique/ideas you’re interested in.
  • Set a specific goal
    Base the goal on issues in your prior artworks.
  • Identify your tendencies
    Do you tend to draw heads too small? Do you draw the same point of view for every panel?
